AI Engineer - Remote

AI Engineer to build Periskope’s AI-native product and engineering harness. This is a hands-on IC role for a software engineer who is strong with cloud, modern AI tooling, and shipping AI-powered products. Company Details Periskope is a WhatsApp operations platform used by 5,000+ businesses across 50+ countries. It combines shared inboxes, workflows, integrations, automation, and AI agents for sales, support, and operations. Website: Requirements • 2–4 years of experience in software engineering • Currently working at a product-based startup or scale-up • Strong software engineering fundamentals with an AI-native mindset • Proven experience building and shipping products/features on top of AI/LLMs • Strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and cloud-native development • Comfortable building production systems end-to-end with high ownership • Experience with LLM APIs, agents, RAG, tool calling, MCP, or similar AI application patterns • Strong coding skills in one or more modern programming languages • Ability to work as a hands-on individual contributor in a small engineering team • Strong proof of work: shipped AI projects, GitHub repositories, products, demos, or other tangible work • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills • Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-moving startup environment Responsibilities • Build and evolve Periskope’s AI engineering harness and core AI capabilities • Build production-grade AI features on top of foundation models • Develop AI agents, tools, workflows, and integrations that can take meaningful actions • Build reliable infrastructure for AI workloads across cloud services • Experiment rapidly with new AI models, frameworks, tools, and development workflows • Turn prototypes into scalable, maintainable production systems • Improve AI reliability through evaluation, observability, logging, guardrails, and testing • Integrate AI capabilities with APIs, databases, internal systems, and external tools • Own engineering problems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment • Work closely with the founding team to identify and solve high-impact product and engineering problems Job Details Remote Interview Process • 15-Minute Founder Screening Call • 2-Hour Technical Round • 30-Minute Cultural Fit Round Important Note ClanX is a recruitment partner, helping Periskope hire an AI Engineer.
